Have you set any new year’s resolutions or do you view the 1st of January as just another day?
Whatever your view about new years resolutions, if you want to achieve what you want to in it, you’ll need to find the motivation and the focus to make sure that happens whatever the time of year.
Social media is awash with clever soundbites about new chapters, and books with 365 pages. That feeds into our good intentions, but we need more than good intentions to succeed in 2018.
In business, in sales, in life, finding motivation to stay on target and on plan, especially when times are tough can be hard. Sometimes the conversation we have with ourselves is as important as any we have with customers or colleagues.
We all draw motivation from different things; from providing for our families, to being recognised, to working in a team, to job satisfaction.
Motivation is one of those things which contribute to our resourcefulness.
Resourcefulness is a combination of capability, character and resilience; it enables us to adapt to change and believe in ourselves. Resourcefulness is a mixture of your attitude and your action, and sometimes you need support to build your resourcefulness, especially if it’s become depleted for some reason.
I’m not a great believer in “think nice thoughts and nice things will happen to you” life isn’t that simple.
But your thoughts do play a part. Your beliefs about yourself and for sales people – your beliefs about your product and service and what it does for your customers are critical to success, but you need to build on that with your skills and your actions.
And having FOCUS in your actions will help you to achieve what you need to achieve.
