How your body language can affect your confidence and your performance.
There’s a lot written about Body Language.
A lot of it is questionable.
A referred wisdom….. just because it’s on Facebook doesn’t make it so.
We’ve heard a lot of peoples use the phrase “fake it till you make it” and it’s always felt a little shallow. A throwaway line that rolls off the tongue of a pumped up self help guru.
So when we came across this Ted Talk about the science behind body language, we were interested.
The Ted Talk is by Social Psycholgist, Amy Cuddy, Associate Professor at Harvard Business School who goes one step further, and talks us through how the science supports “faking it until you become it”
She explores the impact of our confidence on our body language, and taking that full circle to how our body language affects our confidence.
We’ve all been in meetings with people who are very credible, have a lot to say, but feel that they can’t share their thoughts, and shrink into themselves.
If lack of confidence impacts your credibility in the workplace, if you struggle to find your voice, then it’s worth listening to.
Change your posture for two minutes … it could significantly change the way your life unfolds….” Amy Cuddy
